Phoenix Fridges has a number of supporters helping us bring this service to the public:

TRUenergy is an Australian-run company with 1,200 employees and an award-winning customer service centre. It owns and operates power stations in Victoria, South Australia and NSW and is involved in a number of renewable energy developments.

As an investor, generator and retailer, TRUenergy recognises the importance of building a sustainable business. Not only have TRUenergy committed to reducing their emissions by 60% by 2050 as part of their 2007 Climate Change Strategy, but they actively invest in new, clean energy projects. The Tallawarra Power Station is one of Australia’s most efficient, large-scale gas-fired power stations with carbon emissions 50-70% lower than traditional coal fired generators.

The City of Darebin is a Local Government Area located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and is home to 140,000 people. In 2010 the City of Darebin and the Brotherhood of St Laurence (Phoenix Fridge) developed a partnership to provide whitegoods recycling options for residents.

Council are very happy to be supporting the social elements of the Brotherhoods programs. The Phoenix program has benefited the environment through the recycling of white goods and degassing of fridges in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

After 6 months the program has been a great success with over 720 items collected for recycling. The City of Darebin encourages other Local Councils to support the Phoenix Project.

The Moreland Energy Foundation Ltd (MEFL) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the city of Moreland. They focus on community action, energy efficiency, sustainable energy supply, urban development and climate policy.

AMES is the largest provider of English language and Settlement services in Victoria, in addition to being a major supplier of specialist employment and training services in Melbourne.

AMES successfully educates and services over 40,000 people every year providing an extensive range of adult education, training and employment programs to a diverse client community.
